Paper Issues and a Pocket Full of Sunshine!

hey there, chickens!
new issue today at Paper Issues, and i am DELIGHTED to share something slightly out of character!  i don't get tired of making cards, i assure you, but i got this set of photos from my Instagram feed, and i couldn't resist some of the new pretties i got with my last Paper Issues order.  i made a SCRAPBOOK PAGE!  yep.  craziness!

our theme for the next two weeks is A Pocket Full of Sunshine, and there are SO many fun things you can do with this!  sun.  son!  pockets.  pictures of pockets.  something that's FULL.  anything bright and happy.  whatever!

our sponsor?  the very fun Panda Eight Designs - specializing in some of the most AWESOME flair ever!  (go LIKE their Facebook page!)

here's my page...

LOVE the gradient chevron paper from Chic Tags, and you might not be able to tell, but that pink and white polka dotted panel is actually the new Doodlebug Sprinkles Vellum in white over a piece of plain blush cardstock.  i'm in LOVE with the vellum.  i bought it in EVERY. SINGLE. COLOR.  and some multiples.  those cute little chevron stickers are also new from Doodlebug (get 'em here!).

zoom!

used some goodies from the inimitable Swag Bag (random pieces appear on random projects), and the alphas are from Jillibean Soup (the title is in Grapefruit Pink, and so is the date, layered over Blueberry Teal), little Amy Tangerine stickers, giant Selfie title from some super old Cosmo Cricket stash, and that gold foil paper behind the sun rays cuts is new from Fancy Pants (and it's fabulous)...

zoom again!

loving the Panda Eight Flair!  (and my Dymo label buddy is always within reach)

AND not only is the lovely Panda Eight Designs offering up FIVE flair packs of the winner's choice (she even made one specifically for this issue!), but we have a DISCOUNT CODE for you, too!  use SUNSHINE20 at checkout for 20% off your order!

CLICK HERE to check out the rest of the Paper Issues Creative Team's creations for this issue and to get in on the action!  i'm still kind of in shock over the fact that i SCRAPPED.  :)

OH, and here's a little something for you!

...lastly, i combined the sketch AND the color inspiration challenge at Unity's {be inspired} challenge, because, seriously, how awesome is the sketch?! (i was pretty true to it, which is a first for me!)  and how perfect are the colors?!  the stamps i used are We Click (camera) and Could I Be Any Cuter? (rainbow) - and this is the first time i've used stamps on a scrappy page, too!

utterly BEAUTIFUL new Sheena stamps from Crafter's Companion!

wow, so, seriously!  Crafter's Companion might just have some new releases - like, a TON of them - and i love these new sets from Sheena Douglass!  i was SO excited to ink them up and colour away with my sweet Spectrum Noir markers.  check THIS beauty out!

the stamp set is "True Colors" from the new Sheena's A Little Bit Sketchy series - in this particular set, there are two BIG, beautiful butterflies, and 5 fabulous sentiments, and trust me, when you start colouring them, you can't STOP.

stamped both the image and sentiment on Ultra Smooth Premium White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, coloured with the following Spectrum Noir markers:

LY1, CT3, CT4, GB3, OR1, OR2, CR8, BG4, BG7, BG9, True Black

die-cut my sentiment with a Nesties die and inked around the edges with one of the new StazOn Midi ink pads (coming soon!) in Orange Zest (my fave, of course!) and added some bits and bobs here and there.  :)

and i used the sketch at the lovely Lesley Croghan's blog, Always Playing With Paper for the #3 challenge...  here's the sketch:

there are some differences, but this is what inspired me for my card design, so there you go.  :)

and that's all she wrote!  hope you have a fantabulatious hump day!  we got MORE snow, and to be honest, it's not going to interfere with my need to go out with the hubbin for some frozen yogurt this evening!  hee hee.

dreaming of DAFFODILS at Crafter's Companion

morning, chickens!  i've got a Crafter's Companion card to share with you today that is up on the Facebook page (have you "liked" it yet?  there are ALWAYS lots of gorgeous inspiration pieces, fun questions, great ideas, and lots of giveaways!)...

this one features the beautiful Daffodils set from Art-Kure by Mike Goss, along with a sentiment from Mulberry Wood "Love You" set:

i stamped the Daffodils on Luxury Centura Pearl cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used my trusty Spectrum Noir markers to color them up...

Flowers - CT1, CT2, CT4, LG2, LG3
Flower centers - CT4, GB3, GB7
Shading - BG5
Stems - CG3, CG4
Background - GT1

matted the image on a piece of copper foil cardstock, added my sentiment, some fabric and paper tapes, plus a chipboard flourish and wood veneer heart, then a handful of sequins to finish it off.

here's a close-up in an effort to show some of the shimmer:

whatcha think?

Spring Social kicks off at Some Odd Girl!

just check your newsletters, folks.  you'll be glad you subscribed, even if it was just in response to our nagging.  ;)

happy almost spring to you!  Some Odd Girl is VERY ready for it.  and we've got a cram-packed week of fun ahead, so ENJOY!

i'm LAWNSCAPING as a Guest Designer! join me for CAS!

hey gang!  it's Monday!  the 3rd one of the month, in fact, and that means it's time for a Lawnscaping challenge!  i'm the guest designer for this round (#78) - so excited to be joining the awesome team this week!

so this week, there's a SUPER fun little line-up for you, and a fabby prize up for grabs!  ANNNNND the challenge is, in my opinion, pretty perfect for Lawn Fawn, if you know anything about Lawn Fawn.  :)

the theme?  CLEAN AND SIMPLE.  yep.  while i love busy and chaotic and crazy and random, i thought i'd have a little CAS fun with this cute sickie turtle from the On The Mend set.  check me out!

little turtle dude and his hot water bottle are coloured up with my Prismacolor pencils, i stamped the sentiment on a label, then added a few simple stickers and chipboard pieces, plus a teensy bit of bling.  SIMPLE!  and relatively CLEAN (which is unusual for me).  it really does take a LOT of willpower to avoid clutter (and to refrain from slapping a big ol' piece of patterned paper behind everything for a background!), so i know you can do it, too!

CLICK HERE to see what the team has created, link up to join in the fun and win pretties from Lawn Fawn, and happy CAS crafting, chickens!  you have until the 26th to play along!

have you met the Hipsters?

this release has been a HUGE hit at Some Odd Girl.  we showed them off at CHA and people were inking up the pets for our make and takes, and ultimately, the Odd Girls were bursting at the seams to share them with you!

well they're available, they're flying off the proverbial shelves, and we are in love.  here's a card i made using the new Hipster Mae clear stamp set:

she. is. fabulous.  i love the spirit this young lady exudes, and i prefer to think she's drinking a Wawa coffee, rather than a Starbucks, but that's just my preference.  :) Mae is coloured up with my pencils, and i went minimalish on the background, using a doily and some Heidi Swapp Color Shines to mist...  a few minor embellies and the attention is all on Mae!

so the Hipsters.  we have a Hipster Kody set too (and he bears a striking resemblance to the beat poet Johnny Depp), and Hipster Pets, for all you lovers of foxes with bowlers and moustaches.  :)  CLICK HERE to check them all out!

there's also a Spring Social event going on next week in the Some Odd Girl Facebook community, and YOU'RE INVITED!  but i strongly urge you to sign up for the newsletter, so you can get the inside scoop which will ALSO give you a bit of an edge as we kick off the party on Monday.  here's the info...

will we see you then?  :)
happy Friday, chickens!  xo

you're my FAVE - Crafter's Companion DT creation

helllooooooo chickens!
the middle of the week, and while things are hectic as i prepare myself (mentally and physically) for a temporary assignment, i am happy i didn't have to drive up to our main branch today, as originally planned.  so here's to late crafty nights and not having to get up extra early!

i have a super cute Mulberry Wood card for you today that's up at the Crafter's Companion USA Facebook page...  strangely, i seem to be all about CRITTERS lately, and these two are just so stinkin' irresistible, i couldn't wait to colour 'em up!  check it out!

aren't they CUTE?!  they're from the "Love You" set from the Mulberry Wood series, which is full of quirky little critters!  i stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Ultra Smooth Premium White cardstock and coloured them up with the following Spectrum Noir markers:

Kitties:  fur - GG1, GG2, GG3; ears/cheeks - PP1, PP2
Flowers: EB1, EB2, OR1
Leaves/grass: LY1, LY3, DB2, DG3
Background/border: HB1, HB2

just look at them!  KITTIES!  what's not to love?!

the border around the edge of the main panel is made with the little accent stamp from the set - i thought it would give it a cute effect without being too busy.  and now i'm not sure i want to give this card to anybody, because i rather like it, with my loopy bow (a first for me!).

SO.  in Leah news...  beginning Monday, i'll be commuting to the main branch to help another department that's very short-staffed.  i'm comfortable with the actual job i'll be doing, but i'm not terribly familiar with the people with whom i'll be working, and the commute (!!!) is over an hour each way, whereas i'm used to driving 5 miles to get to my branch.  gonna take some adjusting, and i don't know how long it will last, but i was told at least 2-3 months.  EEP!

so here's to finishing out a great week at HOME, enjoying our awesome staff and the quick jaunt, and to the END of sleeping in.  i'll have to leave by 6:30 to get there by 8 am and i am NOT an early morning girl.  wish me luck!

i AM happy for hexies!

to be honest, i wasn't sure about the hexagon trend when it first exploded onto the crafty scene.  but it grew on me.  so much so, i had to get me some punches, and i grabbed every sheet of paper that had hexagons on it, and i even ended up buying a hexagon comforter and sheet set for my bed!  yeah, i can safely say i have a bit of a love for hexies now.  so when i saw there was a hexie challenge at Moxie Fab World, i needed to bust out the punches and get 'er done!  :)

here's my card - a Smudgy-Paw birthday card:

i love my hexie punches.  i love the black and grey and yellow.  i love that my biffy is WAY older than me and i can always joke about it.  :)  and i loves me the MOXIE FAB

happy Friday, chickens!  it's gonna be a fun weekend!  xo

Crafter's Companion has a HUMPHREY and now I do, too!

morning, chickens!  and happy HUMP DAY to you all!  hope the week's been treating you well so far - i have a LOT going on and have to share my computer with the hubbin as he's taking graduate courses, so i don't have an issue chillin' in my craft room instead to while away the hours.  ;)

i'm up on the Crafter's Companion Facebook page today (where you'll happen to find some awesome deals, HUGE giveaways, and loads of inspiration from my talented teammates!), and i have a sweet little critter to share.  since people everywhere seem to be having BABIES, i figured i ought to build up my stash because these cards will go quick!

this one features the sweet little Humphrey, from Crafter's Companion.  i used the Welcome Little One stamps from the "A Year With Humphrey" line, and i love the versatility of this set!  good for a boy or girl, new baby, baby's 1st birthday, or, heck, just use the flowers for a cute little thinking of you card...  loads of options!  heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's Humphrey!

the sentiment and flower are from the same set - cute, right?  and that fab embossed background?  that's one of the new Sheena Douglass embossing folders - "Petite Floral" - and i love how it goes so well with the flower stamps!

i stamped Humphrey using Memento London Fog ink, then coloured her (!) up with my pencils on plain ol' business card stock (i liked the added bit of texture i got from it):

stamped the sentiment with StazOn Jet Black ink, punched it out, added some little scraps behind the sentiment, tied my ribbon and added just a HINT of yellow Wink of Stella to the flower centers (though it's not visible from the pics)...

my little heffalump and the sentiment are popped up and i am LOVING all the fun textures going on here!

drop by the Crafter's Companion Facebook page and see what else is going on!
