pile on the LAYERS at Charisma this week! mmmm, layers.

SO.
you chickens prolly already know i'm generally not a huge fan of the CAS style (although i have fun with it sometimes).  well i was overjoyed when i saw our DT assignment for this week at Charisma!

LAYYYYURRRRZZZZZ.

i love using lots of layers and building them up on my projects.  we want to see YOU try your hand at the lotsa layers thing, too!  this can be anything from layers of lovely embellishments, lots of mats, bunches of pretty papers, or hey, even layering your stamped images!  either way, steer away from the absolute clean and simple and layer it on!

here's my 11-layer-card, featuring a gorje image from one of our sponsors, Time For Tea Designs:

isn't she a pretty little thing?  she's called Chin Up Buttercup and while i don't like my pleats, i love the image!  and ooh, did i have some fun FUSSYCUTTING!  i love those little hexie papers and the wood veneers (getcher wood at Paper Issues by clicking HERE!)...  the buttons are Jillibean Soup (thank you for the fabby goodies at CHA last summer!), tags (the birthday wishes and the red dotty banner tag) are from Chic Tags (thank you SO much, Veronica!)...  oh, and this gorgeous butterfly?  :)

that's from BasicGrey's Mint Julep line, and i just stickled the bajeebus out of it.  :D

okay.  so those are MY layers.  show us whatcha got, playing along by clicking HERE, and you could win....

a Time For Tea digi from the shop (there are some seriously cute new images!), or a £10 gift certificate to spend at the fabby J & C Creations (where you could TOTES stock up on embellies)!  :)  either way, we just want you to HAVE FUN with the challenge!  you have until next Wednesday to play along, so have at 'er!

that's it for crafty stuff.  i'm playing along at a few fun places:
Allsorts - their theme is "here come the girls" - hope this is girlie enough!  :)
Crafty Calendar Challenge - things with wings
Papertake Weekly - anything goes!
The ABC Challenge - O is for Open (anything goes)

now if you'll excuse me, i'm off to work, then to move more things into my new home.  :)

New Paper Issues BLOG HOP! Doodlebug gets FRUITY!

ahoy-hoy, chickens!  it's my first ISSUE at Paper Issues and we've got some excitement in store for you!

You should have arrived here from
Kristine's place...
but if you dropped by just to see what's going on chez l'Orange and i'm your first stop, be sure to head over to Paper Issues to start at the beginning!

Here's the blog list:

so lemme tell ya, when you see the colours and cuteness of Fruit Stand, i'm sure you'll understand why i nearly squealed when i was told that my first DT assignment was to work with DOODLEBUG goodies!  oh my HECKNESS, this stuff is CUTE!  my HUGE thanks to Doodlebug for sending such lovely things to create with and for sponsoring our hop!

for my projects, there was very little that came from my stash!  first, a bright
and summery card with a lil' pocket for a tag (lurrrve the stickers and the bling!):

 and the tag:

FYI - i LOVE Doodlebug's alphas.  LOVE THEM.  they have funky fonts that are right up
my alley! i must have 20 sheets of different fonts and colours (okay, sometimes i horde).

next, something sweet for any occasion.  this one's a little simpler but i couldn't resist the stickers
from the Fruit Stand line and they took center stage here!  the banner stickers ROCK!

and last, but not least (this one's my fave!) - a gift box perfect for some summery sweetness!

that's Fruit Stand.  and i love it.  and you should see what the rest of the PI team on this hop have created!  share your FRUITY projects (use Doodlebug product if you have it, but it's not necessary!), and link up, and you could win one of TWO awesome prize packs from our lovely sponsor!  and don't forget to:

1.      Like Doodlebug on Facebook {tell them we sent you}
2.      Like Paper Issues on Facebook
3.      Leave a comment (here, and at each visit along the hop)

***4/3/14 added this to the Link Party at Paper Issues for the Pocket Full of Sunshine theme!**

Designed to Color new INSPIRATION challenge sponsored by Fresh Brewed Designs!

GOOOOOOOD Saturday morning, chickens!  are you suffering heatstroke too?  it's ridiculously hot this week in South Jersey and i wish i had a pool so i could just jump in to cool off.

instead, i'm packing boxes and moving things into my new house and running around like a chicken with my head cut off.  yep.  NEW HOUSE!  so exciting, and can't wait to set up my craft room!

right now, i just want to share the brand new Designed to Color challenge because this is my first one as a member of the GLITTER CREW!  yep.  i've been with them since the magazine kicked off, and now we've started this new chapter for the blog and our challenges, and we have some AMAZING sponsors lined up for you!

our June challenge is sponsored by the super fun and cute Fresh Brewed Designs, who offer THIS little guy:

cute, right?  that's Squeaker's Ride, and you can get him HERE!

here's the inspiration photo for our challenge:

take anything that inspires you from this photo and CREATE!  all we ask is that you colour an image - after all, we are working with stamps and images that are DESIGNED TO COLOR!  :)  i like the newsprint with the pops of colour, particularly the red and blue...  here's what i did with this one:

so take those patterns from a big room, put 'em down to a smaller scale, and voila!  that's what worked for me.  mostly a CAS kinda card here - Squeaker did all the work for me!  ;)

here's the breakdown...

Prismacolor Pencils
Colors: Mouse - 1052, 1054, 935 (nose), 928 (ear); Cheese - 1003, 1094; Car - 924, 1065; Lights - 1069, 917; Tires - 935, 1063, 1061, 1065; Smoke clouds - 1052, 1060
Cardstock: Georgia Pacific (for image), Canvas Corp
Image: Squeaker's Ride (Fresh Brewed Designs)
Elements: patterned paper - Out of Print (BasicGrey); tags - Chic Tags; twine - The Twinery; tape - #849 (love my tapes); pigment ink - Studio G (Hampton Art); bling - Lush (My Mind's Eye); other -
3-d Dots (EK Success)

and that's that!  CLICK HERE to play along with our challenge - you have two weeks to join in the fun!  if you have any Fresh Brewed Designs images, we'd love to see you use them on your project!  if not, that's okay too.  maybe you'll just win some to use on future projects!  :)  have fun, and i'm off to do some moving!

(linked up at Paper Issues for the new "Say Cheese" theme - there's actual CHEESE on the card!)
