new CLEAR STAMP RELEASE at Some Odd Girl! (comment to win!)

howdy, chickens!  quick like a bunny tonight, as the hubbin is out for a while and i NEED to get some shopping under my belt (it's kind of sad - i literally have THREE gifts so far, but at least my hair looks cute!).

we have a brand new CLEAR STAMP RELEASE at Some Odd Girl, and it's all about the lurrrrrve!  :D  yesterday, we brought you Love Me Not Mae (a dreamily romantic kinda gal), and today, we have LOVE BANDIT!  super cute little raccoons who are out to steal your heart (and everyone else's, too!)...  wanna see 'em?  here's one now!

i went SUPER soft with my palette for this one, opting for a Memento London Fog ink and some grey tone Copics (that's right, COPICS - again!).  i just wanna pick this little guy up and squeeeeeze him, ya know?!

here's my card for today's little celebration:

both papers are Fancy Pants (It's the Little Things) and i've gotten a TON of mileage from this little 6x6 pad!  cute and simple, and AGAIN, not my usual style.  ribbon from my stash, and that is literally IT!  crazy, right?  :)

SO, here's the awesome set -

AND...  you can win it by clicking HERE to see our Odd Girls rock this release, and by leaving a comment...  be sure to read the "fine print" though - there's a little question you have to answer in order to be eligible to win!  :D

so there you have it.  we're not through the last of the Christmas crafting, and we're already moving onto Valentine's stuff!  EEP!  i have lots to do!

Sketch challenge at Studio D - Damaris is giving away COPICS!

so the 25 Days of Christmas are wrapping up at Studio D - have you been there to check out the festivities?  Damaris has shared what seems like a bazillion awesome projects for the holidays, and i can tell you this - my mind's been SWIMMING with ideas!  the girl's creativity just doesn't quit!

anywho, Copic markers can be won for this particular challenge - Damaris has given us a little sketch action to play with, and the challenge closes in just a few hours.  i decided to color up my Gingerbread Kaylee from Some Odd Girl (with Copics, for a change!), and went all non-traditional (and almost Halloweeny, come to think of it!), for this lil' card...

well i saw the shapes and layers of the sketch and had to play along (although i replaced the circle with an image)!  here's the sketch she gave us:

FUN, right?  i love the hexagon shapes and the chevron pattern (and i almost went in a whole other direction, but stuck to the original plan).  there's still time (and not many players), so if you wanna get in on it, CLICK HERE and be inspired!

now i'd just like to give a little nod to our awesome hostess, Damaris, for 25 days of entertaining posts, inspiring projects, and LOTS of organizing and planning and awesomesauce - i certainly couldn't have put something like this together, and i hope it becomes a yearly event!  thanks, D!  :D

(p.s. - think it's time to change my blog template - i hate that the photos bleed into my sidebar and i don't want to decrease the size of my photos.  ANNOYING!)

Christmas at Charisma - join us and win YUMMY STUFF!

afternoon, chickens...  hope all's well in your respective necks of the woods!  i just came back from gettin' my hairs did (FINALLY - goodbye grey!), and i'm feelin' like a rock star!  my hair guy is so awesome - he always tries something slightly different and i always walk out feeling like i just got the royal treatment.  totally happy with my new 'do, yessirreebob!

in crafty news, there's a Christmas challenge going on at Charisma right now!  all we wanna see is your Christmas creations - could be with a Christmas theme, could be for a Christmas giftie, could be a Christmas decoration...  regardless, we wanna see 'em!

i decided to whip something pretty up using my favourite gal, Kaylee (Mistletoe Kaylee, in this case), from Some Odd Girl, and paired her up with a sentiment and chevron pattern from our brand new Make a Statement clear stamp set...  here we go!

i was quite pleased, i'll have you know, because i worked with a teeny-tiny set of just 24 Prismacolor Pencils whilst hanging out at my in-laws' house (as opposed to my full set of 132), and i thought i did well with what was available.  ;)  maybe it's not always bad to be limited - forces you to think a little more outside-the-box and just make do.

ANYWHO...  wanna know what you can win if you play along with our Charisma challenge this week?  well, i'll tell you!  first of all -
4 digis from the fabulous MELJEN'S!

4 digis from the inimitable The Stamping Boutique!

so there you have it, folks.  easy peasy challenge for you, plenty of time to play along (you have until WEDNESDAY night!), and fabby little prize packages to be won!  wanna join us?  CLICK HERE and feast your eyes on all of the projects from our talented Charisma Galz

i decided to play along with some outside challenges for a change...  these ones, actually!
Cupcake Crafts Challenges - their theme is Merry Christmas (wouldn't be merry without smooches!)
Simon Says Stamp Challenge - "what's your favorite?" - Kaylee is my all-time fave, we all know that!  :D
The ABC Challenge - "D for deck the halls" - by hanging the mistletoe so you can steal a smooch!

and there it is...  i know it's been a very strange week and the news has left many people feeling saddened and disgusted (my trainer at work actually lost her little nephew in the Connecticut shooting, so it's impacted everyone in our bank), so i just encourage all of you to hold your loved ones a little closer and let them know what they mean to you.  don't take anything for granted, and be grateful for every moment.  xo

Christmas at Charisma... but no red, green or gold!

howdy, folks...

are you working on holiday projects?  did you start back in, oh, JUNE, or are you like me and frantically start the madness sometime around late October?  :)

whatever your situation, i'm sure you're dying to get away from the ol' red and green bidniss, right?  well cool, because we want to see the UNUSUAL colours this week at Charisma!  show us your Christmas themed stuff but do NOT use red, green or gold!  can ya dig it?

here's what i did for the occasion:

whatcha think?  i lurrrrrve these non-traditional papers from Cosmo Cricket - seriously!  who says non-traditional Christmas cards have to be wild and funky?  (well, i LIKE 'em wild and funky, but that's not my point!)

so play along, and you might win....

6 digis of your choice from this place!

4 digis of your choice from this place!

(yep, there's more!)
a $10 voucher to spend at our newest sponsor, Freckled Fawn (have you SEEN their washi tapes?!)

Charisma recipe challenge - 1, 2, 3!

heya chickens!  i'm a smidge late posting this one because i've worked the EARLY shift all week and my mornings have been nuts (and today is hubbin's birfday, so i've been preparing for that!), but there is LOADS of time for you to join us for this week's Charisma challenge!

this time, Carrie has given us a recipe to play with, and we have to stick to it!  ready?  it's a 1, 2, 3 kind of dealio, and she's looking for:

1 stamped image/sentiment
2 patterned papers
3 embellies

and here's my little creation, using a digi from Soft Pencil:

LURRRRVE those My Mind's Eye papers!  added a little blingy ribbon from Forever in Time (aka cheapie dollar store stuff), paper clip from Making Memories, and butterfly chipboard from Studio Calico.  all coloured up, of course, with my Prismacolor Pencils.  :)

wanna know what you can win if you play along?  of course you do!  check it out....

a $20 gift certificate to spend at the ever-fabby

or 5 digis of your choice from the always generous

SO!  join us by next WEDNESDAY, November 7th, and you might be one of our lucky winners!  CLICK HERE to see what the rest of our fabulously talented team have done with this recipe, and good luck!  :D

I'm also playing along at Jellypark - they're looking for "back to nature", so i have a little outdoorsy scene with animals and birdies

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

yep, it's been a while!  but i had a night at the casino with my Smudge-Paw, then a week in Cape May with my darling Lesley from England (during which time i made 88 cards - true story!), and now a day off due to ol' Sandy, and i've been a crafty mama!

speaking of mama, have you seen the trailer for Mama?  oooohhh, i wanna see it!  LOVE the creature horror from Guillermo Del Toro!

okay, so crafty stuff....  first of all, we have a new challenge coming at Some Odd Girl tomorrow, and YOU should play along!  not only have the new releases been uber fun, but in case you didn't already know, there are TWO ways to win, and two separate prizes.  3 digis for the digi lovers out there, and a 4x6 clear set for those who prefer the ol' fashioned way.  join us tomorrow and get in on that action.  :)

and i have a little project feature to share, in hopes of inspiring you even a smidge for that holiday crafting!  i tend to leave mine to the last minute, but i'm happy to say i've got a bunch out of the way already this year!  not only do i lurrrrve the Christmas stamps from Some Odd Girl, but i was thrilled to use up some scraps on this project!  heeeeeeeeere's Ornament Tia (done up with Copics!):

isn't the filament on the bulb FUN?!  well the set gives you four options - you can go plain, filament, or one of two patterns (or you can get crazy and paper piece it!)...  not to mention two different sentiments.  don't you love having OPTIONS?!

here's the final product:

totally simple and not my usual, but Ornament Tia definitely steals the show!

playing along with challenges around the blogosphere....
Daring Cardmakers - their theme is "Let There Be Light"
Polka Doodles - they want a Christmas card with KRAFT added

and that's gonna do it for me for tonight...  i'd love to show you more, but there's too much going on with Designed to Color and Some Odd Girl and i have far too many secret things going on behind the scenes!  i'm just glad that Sandy is behind me and my feral kitties out back survived the storm!  :D

Charisma Galz sure love BLING! (and Leah news)

morning, chickens!  hope all's well in your respective necks of the woods!  it's been a bit of a frantic time for me, as i've been burning the candle at both ends, but it all paid off!  i am the new Assistant Manager of the bank where i work, and i couldn't be happier.  the company is amazing and they treat their employees with fairness, respect, and value.  so there's the news - WOOT!  and that, my dears, explains my absence from here lately.  life!  hectic and exciting!  (and, in some cases, very stressful and upsetting, but ya gotta take the bad with the good, right?)

biffy is coming to visit me this weekend, and i got a room comped in Atlantic City, so we'll be having some long-overdue silly and pointless fun (and if i win big, i'll buy you all a cheeseburger!).

today, a new Charisma challenge!  this one's going to be popular, we just know it.  :)  the Charisma Galz are challenging you to show us BADDA BING!!  yep yep.  load it up and show us lots of happy blingy stuff.

for example...  Angel Gwen!  (a new clear stamp set from Some Odd Girl)

there she is with her blingy little halo, glittery wings, glittery patterned paper, blingy snowflakes and pearlescent cardstock.  isn't she FABULOUS?!  (and i actually don't hate my pleats)

you can grab Angel Gwen by clicking Angel Gwen - she comes with the banner and sentiment you see, too (separately), as well as another sentiment and two little accent shapes.  LOVE her.  seriously.

by entering our Charisma challenge (don't forget - your project has to be NEWLY CREATED, and you must link back to our blog), you could win......

a $20 credit to the amazing

5 digis of your choice from

a £10 voucher to spend with our newest sponsor,

how ya like DEM apples, right?  fabby little prizes!  Charisma challenge and play along by next Wednesday, October 10th for your chance(s) to win!   :)

i'm also playing along with my Gwen card at the following lovely places...

Cupcake Craft Challenges - THINK PINK is their theme (and as it is Breast Cancer awareness month, i'm doing just that and sponsored a co-worker to do the 5k run this weekend!)
PaperPlay Challenges - their challenge is Shine On!

Simon Says Stamp - their challenge is Glimmer and Sparkle - WOOT!
happy Thursday, chickens, and craft away merrily!  :D

Theme week at Designed to Color - show us LEAVES and win a digital issue of the mag!

ahoy-hoy, chickens!  hope you're all well-rested from the weekend and ready to kick the week off with a bang, because we are LOADING UP on excitement, fun and inspiration at Designed to Color

it's THEME WEEK, and we're starting the lineup with a "LEAVES" theme...  that means we want to see your projects that feature colored leaves (remember the theme is the focus, and we focus on colored images since that's just what we do!).  you don't have to make something NEW for the occasion, we just want to see what our friends do and we're sure to be inspired by you, too!

i'm kicking off with a card i made a while ago featuring a retired Some Odd Girl digi (Mae as Alice Pose) - she used to be sitting on a big mushroom, but now she sits on Make it Crafty's "Park Bench for Two".  check it out:

but here's a closeup, because the photo isn't the best...  she looks like she was meant to sit on this bench, doesn't she?  i love the versatility of the Make it Crafty elements!

SO.  you could win a digital issue of Designed to Color just by showing us your leaves!  play along - you have ONE WEEK to join us and link up - but we'll be doing this all again tomorrow with a new theme, so keep watching!  :D

blah!  Blogger!
i'm late with this post, as our Charisma challenge went live on Thursday morning, but here we are, and there's still plenty of time for you to play along!

we're looking for Things with Wings at Charisma this week, and guess what?  there's an open DT call!  we're looking for a couple of passionate crafters to join our little team!  :)

send an email to and tell us a bit about yourself, include your blog address and tell us why you'd like to be a Charisma Gal - we're looking forward to hearing from you!

as for the challenge.....

here are my WINGED THINGS!

and a close up of my Wryn:

coloured with my beloved Prismas, natch.  and it's funny, because i didn't realize until just now that her little baubles kinda look like candy corn.  well happy fall, folks, and here's to a fabulous forthcoming Hallowe'en!  :)

so.  Ambrosia papers from BasicGrey, some Recollections flowers and other things from my lovely friend Zulma's stash, and a bit of cheapie Forever in Time bling, shimmery ricrac and Bob is (not) my uncle!  ;)

wanna know what you can win if you play along with our challenge at Charisma?  check it out...

still celebrating at Designed to Color with a recipe challenge with FAB prizes!

WOOT!  it's time for a scavenger hunt of sorts...  there's a fabby prize or two to win, so pay attention!  :D

have i mentioned that i LOVE coloring?  i never used to, until Some Odd Girl happened, and then i just dove in - no turning back!  :)  this little miss has something very special in store for you, along with the Color Crew!  ready for some fun?

the Color Crew at Designed to Color has mixed up a happy batch of YUM for you - we're combining ingredients and making a group recipe for you to use on a crafty little project.  we have put together a little hop/hunt for you, and you'll need to visit all of our blogs to get your ingredients.  once you have them all, you'll whip them up into something fabulous and share at the Designed to Color blog.  but there's a catch!

not EVERY Color Crew member is participating in the hunt with an ingredient, but you'll have to visit everyone, or you might miss something!  :)  we like a challenge, and we didn't want to just hand everything over.  heh.

here's the Color Crew - you don't have to visit them in order, but you will want to end up at the Designed to Color blog once you've cooked up something tasty with our ingredients!

the cooks and bakers among us have hidden our ingredients somewhere in our posts, and when you've created something using all of them, you'll need to LIST THE INGREDIENTS so we can easily see that you've found them and followed the recipe.  link up and have fun!  can't wait to see what yum you manage to cook up!
and i've whipped up something just for the occasion...  this card features Angel Gwen (a new clear stamp set from Some Odd Girl!), and i've incorporated ALL of the recipe ingredients into my card.  oh!  you're still reading?  well guess what?  you've found another ingredient here - add "something doodled" to your list, and be sure to include that in your concoction!  :)  here's Gwen, colored up with Copics (not my usual medium), with some doodly stitches, corners, and snowflakes:

and here's a close-up of my blingy chipboard, with some doodly snowflakes tied on with twine:

(click 'em to enlarge!)  Gwen, the banner and the sentiment are all part of the new set at Some Odd Girl, and i just love the versatility!

so keep hunting, leave us some love along the way, and we hope you're inspired to create using our recipe!  all of the deets are on the Designed to Color blog, so be sure to link up, list your ingredients, and HAVE FUN!  :D

p.s. - i HATE the new Blogger so far (i know lots of you are loving it).  i've hated the new Yahoo mail, the new Google, the new Facebook Timeline, and just about everything they "fix" that ain't broke.  meh.

Monochromatic coloring at Designed to Color - CONTEST #5!

so you caught wind of the fact that there's a MAJOR celebration going on at Designed to Color, right? we are throwing confetti and cutting the cake because we have more than 1000 likes on Facebook, and for a new outfit, that's kind of unheard of! the response has been phenomenal, and we couldn't be more pleased. Carisa, you have come a LONG way in a very short time, and your Color Crew is very proud of you! :) i am totally honored (and always humbled) to be a part of this amazing team.

we have a few FANTASTIC giveaways that are going on right now, so you're going to want to PAY ATTENTION! :)

first of all, there's THIS ONE... follow a few simple steps to get in on the action, and you could win a $20 gift certificate to spend at Paper Makeup Stamps!

next, we have THIS ONE... create something for a celebration, and you'll be eligible to win one of three new and utterly adorbs CLING STAMPS from Stampendous!

then, we have a THIRD CONTEST... lots of ways to enter this one, and you could win a MYSTERY PRIZE from Lil' Inker Designs! they have loads of cute clear stamps and matching dies!

FOURTH CONTEST... a super mysterious MYSTERY BOX, courtesy of Designed to Color! follow the steps to enter, and we promise you will LOVE the goodies that arrive at your doorstep if you're our lucky winner!

and now, we are bringing a FIFTH CONTEST! this time, i'm challenging you to try a technique i've absolutely fallen in love with, and i think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the results when you try it, too! up for grabs is yet ANOTHER mystery prize package (i call it a pack of happy!), and here's what you have to do...

pick an image, any detailed image, and grab all of your markers, colored pencils or paints that are from the SAME color family. use those, and nothing BUT those, to color your image, but you cannot use the greys or browns ('cuz, well, those have been done before, and most of us have rocked that style plenty of times already). choose your greens, purples, reds, pinks, blues, yellows, whatever, and color your image all nice-nice. you might come up with something like this:

or maybe this:

i've busted out my Prismacolor pencils and used only the pinks for Gwen and the blues for Mae - nothing else! SO much fun to limit yourself and not much thinking involved - just varying shades that are SO easy to blend and layer!

if you choose to finish a project using your monochrome colored image, great! show us what you've got! but it's not necessary for this contest - this one's all about the coloring. share 'em with us HERE, and be sure to submit before the deadline (September 26th), and you might win a pack of happy! :)

so there are PLENTY of reasons to celebrate with us, folks! play along, good luck, and happy coloring! (and if you're not a subscriber, you'll want to check out our FREE PREVIEW of our current issue - there's some GREAT stuff in there... check out Page 9!)

we also have our September sketch challenge going on, and our December/January call for submissions, so stop reading my blog, and off you go! ;)

stuff, and stuff. what's going on in Leah's life?

okay, so things are NUTSO here, but most of it is GOOD stuff! i'm getting promoted, my marriage seems to be improving (in many ways, thank goomie!), the weather is cooling off, i'm healthier and more FIT than i've probably EVER been (having lost a total of 23 pounds so far!), my hubbin leased himself an art studio and gets to move HIS crafties into a designated space soon (which means there's more space freed up for mine!), and we are in the early stages of REALLY house hunting. it's something we've wanted for a long time, but he's a real foot-dragger, and i think he's finally getting the bug. making some appointments this week to see what we can see, and my fingers are crossed because there are a couple of REALLY nice houses that interest me and are totally within our price range. LET'S GO SHOPPING! ;)

so, with all of that going on, summer coming to a close and hubbin being back to work (he's a teacher), we've been busy literally every night, and i have totally slacked on updating my PERSONAL blog (but at least i'm on top of my DT assignments!).

i'm throwing it out there today to let you know the following things...

1 - new Charisma challenge! we're "Seeing Double" this week, and you have until Wednesday night to play along. need inspiration? wondering what the whole double thing can entail? well CLICK HERE to see what the Charisma Galz have done, 'cuz there are load of great examples! here's what i made for the occasion:

we're being sponsored by Crafty Ribbons and Digi Doodle Shop - get in on the action,
and you could win a FABBY ribbon pack, or $10 to spend on happy little digis!

2 - there's a new Some Odd Girl challenge! it's a sketch, it's fabulous, the Odd Girls have rocked it and will totally inspire you, and the prizes are, as always, DELISH. click here to see for yourself! yeah, do something with the sketch. you know you wanna! (be sure to use a Some Odd Girl stamp!)

3 - we're releasing new CLEAR STAMPS tomorrow at! you've probably seen sneaks of them, if you were following along with the CHA updates in July. they're freaking fabulous, and you're going to want to go to the Some Odd Girl blog tomorrow at 9 am (EST) to see the first of the reveals! oh. my. goomie.

so. yeah. see ya soon, chickens. i'm missing you all, but trust me, there's good stuff going on here!

Charisma's all decked out in LACE this week!

mornin', chickens! howyoudo?

this week has flown by and work is an absolute whirlwind, but i've at least manage to stay on top of things at home and get my butt to the gym (despite being ready for my pillow at 10:30 last night!). the weekend is almost here!

in the meantime, we've got another Charisma challenge for you, and this is an EASY one! we want you to create projects using LACE, and i know you all have loads of it in your stash. :)

for my project, i used some of the absolutely GORJE two-tone lace tape from Love My Tapes... i helped out at their booth at CHA last month, and i just couldn't believe how many beautiful varieties of lace there were.... (CLICK HERE to see their online catalog, and have your credit card handy, because they are the RULERS of the Washi Tape Universe!) to be perfectly honest, i've been hiding them from my view since returning from CHA, because i tend to do that with precious things. ;)

anywho, here's my card for the Charisma challenge this week, featuring LACE!

stamp is CC Designs (with Prismacolor pencils), papers are BasicGrey and AC (the blue dot mat), journal tag is My Mind's Eye, alphas are Doodlebug, little chipboard accents are Make It Crafty (inked up and Smooched!) and flowers are Recollections. oh, and there are Stickles, but they're hard to see:

so. um. CLICK HERE to see a bunch of other beautiful lacy projects from the Charisma Galz (so many ideas my head's spinnin'!), and play along with our challenge by next WEDNESDAY for your chance to win...

£10 to spend at

4 digis of your choice from

Linkyou KNOW you need more digis in your stash, so JOIN US!

i'm also playing along at:
Jellypark Challenges - their theme is "Summer Bugs" - that inspired me to use this little miss, who's been stamped and in my arsenal of images for AGES before i finally coloured her up!
Stampalot Challenge - their theme is "Take Flight" - hope my little butterfly doesn't fly away!

see you a little later with my final card for this week's Some Odd Girl digi release! :D
