hop around all the following blogs and witness the fabby inspiration and creativity from the people who have been showing the love to Some Odd Girl - we are HUMBLED and forever inspired! be sure to leave comments at every stop along the way, because all of these loyal bloggers have a little something to give away! you have to complete the hop in order to be eligible, so your STARTING POINT is the main blog, but if you've ended up here, at The Chronicles of Orange, via ANDREA'S BLOG, then you're well on your way!

sooooooo, in honour of our Hol-ODD-day Hop, i decided to use one of the fun new images, Sign Kaylee, who is PERFECTLY customizable to ANY occasion, including the big ones coming up! there's a bunch of fun Some Odd Girl SENTIMENTS that work great with Sign Kaylee, but i love to make my own sentiments and have an overabundance of tiny alphas (ha! NEVER too many alphas!), so i went that route for my card...

here's a different view so you can see the fun gold foil spots on the paper:

*see that little star paperclip? yeah, that's from STAPLES, baby! cheap and lots of 'em in a pack!*

so i'm giving away SIGN KAYLEE today to one lucky commenter who completes the entire hop, and if you play your cards right, you might even end up winning a lovely ASSORTMENT of Some Odd Girl images, as we've really mixed it up for you! :)

a girlie challenge at Charisma! and our newest sponsor!

happy thanksgiving, U.S. friends! and happy thursday to everyone - i'm thrilled to have a day off, but it's been a mad, hectic week here, so i do apologize for the lateness of my post.

WOO HOO! so excited, because this week's Charisma Challenge is LIVE, and it's a good one!

this one's FOR THE GIRLS!
yep, easy peasy! we want to see your girlie creations, and look who's sponsoring! :)

SOME ODD GIRL is our newest sponsor at Charisma, and i couldn't be more pleased, as i am thrilled to be designing for BOTH!

it was lots of fun making this one - i had this GORGEOUS thick green ribbon that my fellow Oddie, Kimmy, sent me when i won a yummy blog candy, and i thought i might try to make some funky grass with it...

whatcha think?

here's a close-up of my two fave digi-gals, Mae (Relax Mae) and Kaylee (Lounging Kaylee), with the oh-so-versatile Tree behind them:

the grass is layered with lots of pop dotty goodness for super dimension, and i can't tell you how much FUN i had making this card!
OH, nearly forgot....

so you can win some free digis from Some Odd Girl, or you can win a beautiful embellie prize pack from Pizzazz Aplenty, or you can win $10 (Canadian funds) to spend at Digis With Atittude! but either way, you should CLICK HERE to see what the rest of the Charisma Gals have done, because i get to design alongside some AMAZINGLY talented ladies! play along with us by next wednesday for your chance to win!

i decided to play along with the new Cute Card Thursday challenge, which is to revisit one of their OLD challenges... i chose "Tree-Mendous", from one of their August challenges this year.

right now, i am waiting for our sweet potatoes to finish baking in the oven, then i'm getting my new scoring board and bringing my holiday papers over to the in-laws' house so i can try to whip some more quick projects out for next saturday's craft fair. i hope that everyone celebrating thanksgiving today is enjoying the day with loved ones, and eating so much food they could pop! :D

'cuz Carlyann says so....

i've got ATTITUDE!
or, at the very least, my BLOG does. ;)

this is a little surprise the lovely Carlyann (the DT queen at Charisma) bestowed upon me on Thursday, and it just warmed my heart! THANK YOU, dollface! i try to keep things light and fresh, and my goofy outlook often shows through my blog posts and interactions with my bloggy friends, so i'm THRILLED to know that someone, somewhere, might be giggling when they read my drivel. :)

Carlyann accused me of being NUTS! is that true? do you think i'm a little off-my-rocker-loco? well i was kinda flattered, to be perfectly honest! :)

anywho... i'm supposed to tell you 3 things about myself that you might not already know, so let's see what i can come up with here.

did you know that.....
i own my dream car? (a Pontiac Vibe - yeah, my dream car is a spunky little CROSSOVER! and her name is Tallulah!)
i have a giant crush on Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints)
i hate my cell phone! i wish i didn't need the thing, and i hate that sometimes i have to rely on it.

oh, and my job requires me to get up at 5:30 am, and it's nearly 11:30 pm, so it's WAY past my bedtime. 'night! xo

a merry martini to you! and Simon Says USE BUTTONS!

it was time to do some colouring - i'll go a few days without picking up my beloved Prismacolors, then i'll feel guilty and have to show them some tenderness. after a short dry spell, this morning i decided to bust 'em out, and my Merry Martini card was born:

the background was something NEW to me, and also happened because of a big, ugly mistake i'd made. i used Smooch for Bella's hairband, and forgot that the stuff takes FOREVER to dry, so it smudged everywhere! but i'm much happier with the overall card now anyway, so it was a HAPPY accident!

check out the bead/charm action here (i don't often play with stuff like this):

i was partly inspired by the "Just a Fraction" theme last Sunday at 365 Cards (I LOVE THAT BLOG!) - i chopped Bella's feet off to add a spotlight effect
and i'm playing along with the "We Three" challenge at Daring Cardmakers - the three stars

then there's a demand for BUTTONS, and use buttons, i did! i had these two little die-cut trees from a cheapie kit freebie i got last year (it was a bonus with some stuff i'd ordered), and i didn't think i'd EVER use them, because they just weren't my style. then i saw the challenge in the Simon Says Stamp group at Paper Craft Planet, and i finally squoze in a bit of time this morning to put these trees to use.

they wanna see BUTTONS GALORE... and i didn't have very many CAS cards for the craft fair, so it was time. now that i've made these two cards, i think i want to do some others using different colour schemes.

the stars on the treetops? yeah, those are FELT BUTTONS, that i grabbed on clearance at Jo-ann a few months ago. i LOVE them, and it was time to stop hording them. ;)

on a kinda unrelated side note, have you been to the SEI blog? are you a follower there? there's something FUN happening over there in a few of weeks, and i'm really excited! follow them NOW so you don't miss the big event! *giggle*

some patterned paper goodness for the Wee Memories challenge

SQUEAKING this one in! it's been a LONG week, but i was able to get something accomplished tonight and thought i'd play along with the Wee Memories challenge before it ends... i have a bazillion sheets of patterned paper, and while i usually make a point to use up scraps before busting into the pretty new sheets (all bazillion of them), i have taken on an attitude of "hey, whatev!" lately, and i'm using whatever appeals to me. :)

so this...

is for their Patterned Paper challenge... i have issues with using papers with LARGER patterns on them, unless i'm able to cover them up for the most part. this time i kept that fabby huge flower visible and opted for some smaller accents instead.

and i think i need to use a bunch of these MME papers for a series of thank you cards before the craft fair... i LOVE this little 6x6 stack and had forgotten about it altogether, because for some reason i had decided i needed to horde it or something. HA!

i'm getting excited! the fair is just two weeks away, and this weekend i'm going out to look for my christmas tree(s) and table. hope i find some good deals!

Makin' it CHRISTMASY with a freebie and a prize!

CHECK IT OUT, folks! there's a brand new challenge at the Crafters Digital Art Center, and ZOE from Make it Crafty is hosting! surely you remember her gorgeous scene/background/house images from a slew of cards i've made, right? well you can find her digis HERE, and you may be interested to learn that there is a new FREEBIE for November, and you can even grab the FANTASTICAL Christmas Elves House over at the CDAC!

all you need to do is use any stamp/s combined to MAKE A SCENE! (this couldn't be a more perfect challenge for Zoe to host - her shop has ALL the stuff you need to create gorgeous scenes!)

i've combined the FREEBIE with the Elves House for this little creation:

(sorry for the poor photo quality - it's tough to take photos when i get home as it's already been dark for over an hour, and the lighting STINKS!)

here's another angle 'cuz i couldn't resist playing with glitter:

(click the photos to enlarge for SOMEWHAT better images)

so... do you know about a dozen people who would LOVE to get a holiday card you've made using these images? :) (pick me, pick me!) well grab the Elves and the House, 'cuz it would be a shame to miss 'em! and ENTER HERE with your scene creation for your chance to win TWO DIGIS FROM THE SHOP!

*********************************************************

i couldn't help but play along with The ABC Challenge - H is for Holiday
the BUTTONS GALORE challenge in the Simon Says Stamp group at PCP (been itchin' to play with my buttons and i squealed when i saw their challenge!),
and Pollycraft Monday's "A Glittery Christmas"

HOPING to finish another card and get it posted tonight, but that may be a bit too ambitious - i'm EXHAUSTIFICATED! hope you're all doing wonderfully, and we've almost made it to the weekend! WOOT!

how much is that Monkee in the Window?

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

Charisma is lovin' BABIES this week!

sooooo.... it's that time again! another new challenge at CHARISMA! and seriously, this was the PERFECT opportunity for me to get started on some BABY cards! i sold out of them at the last craft fair, so i think i need to be more prepared this time!

our fabby hostess, Carly, set this challenge, and i'm glad she did, 'cuz it's lit the proverbial fire under my butt! here's the first of many baby-themed cards i plan to make (and i'm in the process!)...

and oohhh, if you don't already own these Sass alphas, check 'em out (i'm in LURRRRVE!):
(click pic for max bling - it's yummalish!)

this was my first effort "colouring" my image with Q-tips and Dewdrop inks. i love the effect and the softness, but it is MUCH tougher when working with a more detailed image. this one, however, was the perfect size and shape. :)

SO! play along with us at Charisma this week, and win FABBY flippin' prizes - stuff from Pink Cat Studio, Precious Moments, and a NEW sponsor, The Stamp Shoppe! CLICKIE HERE for the deets and to check out the rest of the Charisma Gals' GORGEOUS projects for this one.

Digi Day with Some Odd Girl - HOLIDAY CHEER challenge!

woot! i was able to PLAY, thank goodness! i have been trying very hard to keep up with the crafting community and the new work schedule has me tired ALL THE TIME - i get up at 5 am, leave for work by 6:15, and don't get home until 5 pm, at which point i usually end up plopping down on the couch with my beautiful Jones-Soda kitty.

today, i was SUPPOSED to head out to Amish Country with the hubbin and the in-laws, but fortunately those plans fell through and i got to play!

i received an amazing box of goodies in the mail yesterday and got started on those (projects i'll be sharing in a few weeks!), but then i realized that there was some FUN going on and i needed to be a part of it!

so for the Holiday Cheer challenge in the Some Odd Girl group at PaperCraft Planet, i coloured up the new Chilly Penguin image (i have at least forty of these little dudes printed out and ready for my holiday card sets for the craft fair!), looked for a couple of outside challenges in hopes of playing along, and found:
Let It Snow at Paper Sundaes
and
Winter Snowflakes at Crafty Calendar Challenges

and then i knew what i had to do!
here's my Chilly Penguin, hoping you....

(isn't he ADORABLE?!)

i see a very bright future for him, on a whole SLEW of holiday tags! :D

now i'm off to see what the heck i can do to fix my camera, which hasn't been shooting very SHARPLY for a while, and i'm a little annoyed!

hope you're having a great weekend, folks! xo

Some Odd Girl - it's DIGI DAY!

COME AND JOIN US! i'm headin' over right NOW to hang with my fellow Odd Girls and our sweet craftin' friends! there are challenges and prizes and lots of fun chatter, and we're playing with images from the newest Some Odd Girl release.... check THIS out!

we also have MAE DAYS going on in the store, so you can get this adorable chickadee at 25% off through November 18th, so if you don't HAVE any Some Odd Girl images to play along (although you don't NEED them), you can grab 'em cheap, OR you can nab our festive FREEBIE by clicking HERE! (oh, and there will be some special SALES going on, too, but you have to come and join us at PaperCraft Planet's Some Odd Girl group!)

see you in the Digi Day forums! :D

Charisma has a toughie for you

I'M HOSTING this week, so yay for that - it's my hosting debut at Charisma Cardz Challenges.

what does Leah do when she needs to come up with a theme to challenge the crafters? why, she chooses something that challenges HER, of course!

this week, we're looking for SYMPATHY cards. yeah, told you it was tough!
but we have a couple of awesome sponsors, so you should check it out and play along!

here's my sympathy card, using a freebie flower image from Make it Crafty - are those flowers not lovely? i had a ton of fun colouring them, despite the theme...

close up of the image (which i LOVE but can't seem to find on the site, so stay tuned and i'll give you a link if i can find it!):

wanna join us? sympathy cards are things i NEVER have... my MIL says that it's the ONE kind of card she won't actually make, because the sentiment is the most important thing and it has to be just right. i tend to prefer writing my own personal message and foregoing all the pre-invented verbage, as i find that too IMpersonal.

anywho...
check out our sponsors for this one.....

one lucky winner will receive a $15 credit to spend at the store!

and sponsor number two, NEW to Charisma:

one winner will get a ton of yummy bling, courtesy of the lovely Judy!

GO HERE to see what the rest of the Charisma Gals have done with this one, and to get in on the challenge for your chance to win the fabby prizes up for grabs this round. happy craftin'!

The Nerds have gone LIVE with a new HOT challenge!

annnnnd the new Envious challenge is up, folks! you're going to LOVE the collage this month... SO much inspiration in such a simple visual feast.

and i suppose it's important to tell you that you can WIN yummy stuff (but it's yet to be revealed, so stay tuned! last month's Blue Moon Scrapbooking prize pack was HOT!)

here's what we Nerdy Girls were given to play with this time around...

pretty, isn't it? lots of white space, clean and graphic, colours that POP!

well here's what i was inspired to do:

The Son's 9th birthday - his first REAL bike, and the reason the guests left a little earlier than might have been expected for a summer afternoon birthday party. :)

close-up:

(the Cosmo Cricket chipboard came in super handy for this one, and the balloons were cut from the cutest Imaginisce birthday paper)

why do photos of photos always turn out HORRID for me?! :(

SO! you should come and see how the other Nerdy Girls were inspired by this month's collage, and you should MAKE STUFF! come on, i know you wanna! :) play along by the end of the month, and create whatever you'd like, as long as you are INSPIRED by the collage. have fun with it - i sure did! (and you can KINDA see that i ran with the whole white/negative space thing, and you might be able to see the sketch, though i turned it on its side)

CLICK HERE TO PLAY ALONG WITH THE NERDY GIRLS AT ENVIOUS! :)

Dollies and Paper Crafts (well, of COURSE!)

okay gang... another Design Dollies COLOUR CHALLENGE today! i seriously LOVED playing with this combo, and our Dollies created beautiful projects to share, so CLICK HERE to check 'em all out! YUM!

i made this card with one other challenge in mind - the November Gallery Challenge for PaperCrafts magazine (of which i am a huge fan and to which i have been a subscriber for nearly three years!)... they're looking for holiday projects, and this is my favourite one to date (and something a little different).

here's my leedle project...

and a close-up for some of the misting and the detail on the alphas:

how about THAT for a colour combo, hmmm? :)

Royal Blue, Pale Blue, Black and White:

(i'm a genius, if i do say so myself!)

yeah, so PLAY ALONG! i KNOW you can rock this combo (and you don't have to wait for a Trifecta) - and you'll get a chance to win something yummy, because i have a BIG pile of goodies for one lucky November winner for the Color Challenges...

right. i'm off to bed! visit the Design Dollies blog tomorrow for Karen B's very first Dollie admin post and a fun new Elements Challenge! :)

Chrimbo whilst croppin'!

made a slew of things at yesterday's crop! have i told you about this crop i attend with my mother-in-law? it's FIVE BUCKS, it's in a scrappy store, they provide a 4' space, breakfast (bagels, mini muffins, coffee and fixin's) and dinner (either pizza or baked ziti with garlic bread, plus salad) and snacks (chips and brownies) plus pop (soda) and water and more coffee throughout the day. and it's from 8 am to 11 pm. AND they offer everyone 40% off everything in the store.

RIDICULOUS! and a fantastic opportunity for me to get super productive, as i always seem to come home with a TON of new projects!

i had to jump on the Limelight challenge this weekend - Mandy wants to see multiple cards made from one sheet of paper.
Pollycraft Monday Challenge has set their theme (and i love it!) - "IT'S CHILL TIME"!
and they're looking for GLITTER at The ABC Challenge, so i loaded up!

(click 'em to enlarge!)

(by the way, is it me, or is Blogger acting a little funny?)

the paper was double-sided, which gave me lots of options, and i had fun playing with different effects on the snowfolks (though i much prefer the Stickled snowies over the Liquid Pearlsed snowies - what do you think?). this is one of two sets of round cards i made, and i'm LOVING the round cards! i have two more packs, but i think i'll have to stop at Michael's to grab some more in preparation for the craft fair on the 4th! :D

so there that is. watch for our ENVIOUS challenge coming soon (possibly later today!) - looks like we have our July and October winners, and the next challenge should bring about some interesting submissions (with a fabby prize, natch!). :)

hey there, folks! it's thursday, and it's a LONG week here in the Chateau d'Orange. i am EXHAUSTED! had to go out to buy a pair of shoes tonight as i had NONE i could wear to work tomorrow. shoe shopping for this orange chick is NO easy chore. i should have been a Flintstone! nothing fits properly (not even the UGLY shoes!), and i swear i tried on more than 100 pairs of shoes to try to find ANYTHING. ended up with a pair that i'm sure will not treat my feet well, but i'll suffer for my awesome job. anyway, bit of a tangent there - sorry about that!

unfortunately i have to make this post quick, but we have a brand new challenge for you at Charisma, and i have a feeling it's going to be a BIG ONE!

our theme.....

With Love at Christmas
so you can put together some lovely holiday creations and share 'em with us, and you might win something fabby from one of our sponsors! i'll tell you about them, but first, here's my card:

ROOTBEER CAT!

LOOK!
CLICKIE

it's my Miss O!

thanks to you lovelies who voted (often more than once), she MADE THE LABEL! and she says thank you, too!
she's gonna be on the Jones Rootbeer bottles, so PLEASE, if anyone happens to be where Jones Soda is sold, be on the lookout! we have no idea where these bottles will be released or sold, so she could turn up anywhere, like South Dakota or Alaska! or, if i'm really lucky, NEW JERSEY or PENNSYLVANIA! :) but if you are willing to grab any bottles you might find, i will HAPPILY pay you for them, and pay you to ship them to me, so i can show off my gorgeous girl! :D

new DOLLIES colours for November, and goings on...

heya gang! it's monday, and that means back to work for me, but the weekend was nice (and included recruiters from the Marines coming to visit my home) and i feel like i got lots done. yesterday was colouring day, spent mostly at the bookstore and my inlaws' house, so now i have some cards to make with the stuff i've coloured!

i'll start with this little dude, who turned into a card for our new Design Dollies colour challenge - Red, Yellow, Aqua and Black:

isn't he the happiest little chilly dude? i love these little snowmen from The Greeting Farm, and i decided to play along with their Sketch Challenge this week, 'cuz it was a good'un! :D

my sentiment wouldn't quite work for me as a rectangle, so i changed it to repeat the circle theme, but otherwise i TOTALLY followed it (which is kinda rare for me!).

i have a ton of winter/holiday cards yet to be made, and i'm so torn because i KNOW i need to boost my birthday and baby and congrats inventory, so it's hard to figure out exactly what i need to focus on for the upcoming craft fair. maybe i'll just give up sleep for the next month. :)

okay, time to mosey for work! hope you all had a fabby weekend, and come and visit the Dollhouse to play along with this colour challenge (which our Dolls TOTALLY knocked outta the park!) and for lots of big news today!
