coupla two or tree challenges

got some SERIOUS cardmaking mojo going on over here, and i wonder if it's going to be ANOTHER 4 am deal. i think the zinc is messing with me!

at any rate, and without further ado, my cards:

for the Stamp With Fun challenge, to use turquoise and brown, as well as for the Cafe Mojo sponsor challenge to use MASKING (i love tim holtz!):

the turquoise and brown should be self-explanatory (i hope!), and the mask is done with one of the tim holtz mini-masks on a frosted transparency, using stazon ink. QUITE pleased with the overall look of this card, as simple as it seems.

and my second card was for the Sweet Sketch Wednesday challenge, using the following sketch:

i turned it on its side and made this (had been DYING to use this cute stamp):

this card is apparently going into the pool with all the other entries and they are to be considered as design team applications. not sure if it's up to par with the rest of the awesome submissions, but i had fun making it. :)

okay, so there we have it.

be sure to swing on over to Paper Hugs for a shot at some amazing celebration blog candy! ends on the fourth of JULY....

which reminds me... tomorrow is CANADA DAY! i shall wear red and white proudly, and am probably going to see the new Transformers movie. :) now i'm off to link my cards up and get ready for the gym! g'night, all!

Lissa's blog candy!

check it out, folks! some tasty goodies in there, and it's all fat free! :)

heeeeeeeeere's Lissa!

and tell her i sent you! good luck! i'm back to finish my mask challenge - i am LOVING the Tim Holtz mini masks!

the shoe fits like a glove!

well, we have wrapped up our big crop weekend at If The Shoe Fits... Scrap It! NING FORUM, BUT there have been new challenges added!

we are hosting a Freedom ATC challenge, to celebrate the fourth of july. wanna come play? we'd love to have you! here's what i came up with:

i may be a canucklehead, but i do live here, and i am lucky and happy and thankful for some of the freedoms i have acquired since moving here. :)

keep checking in with us at If The Shoe Fits... Scrap It! BLOG for our big announcements and a huge kick-off on monday! be safe this holiday weekend, folks! and have lots of fun and food! (i know i will)

mundane monday

and back to the grind AGAIN. the weekend has wrapped up and i have been productive, but i wish it didn't have to end! we had a great crop over at The Shoe, and voting is well underway for our many challenges. lots of prizes will be mailed out soon, so thank you VERY MUCH to everyone who participated!

i'm working on a card that i plan to finish up before bed, and i did finish one earlier today, inspired by a "quiet time" theme, and inspired by The Fresh Batch, sketch #21:

here's my entry:

annnnd, before i head off to bed, go have a peek at the fab blog candy offered at Nutcrafters... candy closes July 6th, and they're trying to get up to 200 followers. if they reach their goal, they'll throw in another prize! i LOVE those little Wild Things stamps - are they not ridiculously adorable?!

'kay. i'm off now. g'night, folks!

Weekend Crop at The Shoe! Join us!

Sign up here and join us!

it's been a busy weekend, indeed! i am cropping away like a madwoman, participating and hosting on two different crops for two different websites, and enjoying myself very much!

today, i had company! the fantabulatious Miss Adina came down from her neck of the woods this morning and we enjoyed a day of blueberry wine, painting the roses red, and ridin' the boogie. oh, and we were crafty, natch.

we've been busy working on challenges for If The Shoe Fits... Scrap It! over at the group's ning (the blog will relaunch next monday, so i'll remind you to come and visit us there and to check out all the changes. there is still time left for you to join us over there, as our crop weekend ends tomorrow at midnight, EST. the reviews have been EXCELLENT! we tried to really bring some fun to the crop with a HUGE variety of challenges for all styles and comfort levels.

my Phoebe Ketto card was posted on the Bellarific Friday blog - CHECK ME OUT! my card is number 26 on the page - the list is long, but it's so nice to see my card on there! :D

i made this card for the new sketch they have posted at Our Creative Corner:

i don't know what the heck got into me, but a CHRISTMAS card? not like me at ALL for the end of june - i never feel motivated to work on the chrimbo cards until the temperature at least drops below 50. anywho.

more stuff forthcoming, and i'm planning to work on a few more challenges tomorrow, but right now, my comfy bed beckons. 'night, all!

Saturday, June 27, 2009

i am busy with crops this weekend, and trying to keep up with my weekly goings-on. my sweet friend, Adina, is driving two hours to come down and make cards with me ALL DAY tomorrow, and i couldn't be more excited! that's probably why i'm still up at 3:40 am. crikey, i need to get me some sleep, or my cards are going to look like my artistically challenged TEENAGER made them, and i can't have that!

that said, i'm off to bed. enjoy the weekend, and COME CROP WITH US! the reviews have been fantastic, and our participants are very excited! i just wish *I* could win some of the great swag that's up for grabs. :D

right. 'night then!

a BIG challenge for me

okay, so i have been admiring the incredible work the Gutter Girlz DT have posted, and i thought i might like to try my hand at something VERY different and VERY new for me.

their prompt: "you call me Bitch like it's a BAD thing...?"
their song: BITCH - by Meredith Brooks
the technique: BLACK

so i had a little fun tonight and grabbed a little black journal and some random stuff from wherever i could find it. here are the pics of my project:

i guess that's my submission to be considered as a Guest Designer for the Gutter Girlz... do check out the site if you have a moment - it's TRULY inspirational. those girls have ridiculous amounts of talent and creativity and i lurrrrve the site!

our weekend crop is about to kick off, so i hope you crafty gals are ready! there are already some great prizes to be won, with more being added tomorrow when the excitement begins!

JOIN US FOR CRAFTY GOODNESS AND WONDERFUL PRIZE PACKS! you won't be disappointed! invite all your friends and neighbours, and even your kids if they like to get crafty with you. we can't wait to see what you've got!

If The Shoe Fits... Scrap It!
we welcome new members, and encourage participation in the discussion forums too, where you can learn new techniques and check out what's exciting and drool-worthy. we host monthly challenges in our group, in addition to our blog, and we hope to see you there!

click the link on top of my blog to get there, and don't forget to mention that Karm sent you! :)

having trouble containing my excitement!

and my MOJO!

my giant order of Twinkling H2Os arrived yesterday, and the box is just staring at me, taunting me. i can't WAIT to bust these babies out and do some colouring! i ordered a bunch of the little H2Os, plus some of their Shimmering Mists (similar to the Tattered Angels line) and Polished Pigments (similar to Perfect Pearls from Ranger).

apparently the company is not closing down after all! but i hesitate to believe that i'll be able to get stuff at the same awesome prices... still, check our their website,
Luminarte Inc., and DEFINITELY take a look at the galleries there, because there is SO much you can do with these things! i don't want to WORK TODAY!

my father-in-law is coming over tonight to take a look at our toilet (there's a weird leak at the base of the bowl), so i get to play with my new goodies while the fellas make themselves useful. ;)

sketch, stamp, stash, stick, SNAP!

playing around tonight, and had all my challenges drawn out from this morning, so i had a HECK of a time deciding which challenges to work on.

my evening went quite well, and i am pleased to have used up some old stash, as well as finishing an idea i'd had, oh, about a month ago but had never gotten around to wrapping up.

first, Sketch and Stash posted challenge #13 this morning (lucky number!), and i liked the sketch so i thought i'd play along... BUT there's a catch! not only did they encourage you to use new or neglected stash, AND to incorporate new or neglected ANIMAL-themed stash, but they are also looking for their next Guest Designer (oooohhhh!)...

here's the sketch they provided:

and here's the card i made, using a little pooch and matching sentiment/accents i had stamped about 6 months ago at my MIL's house after she'd just bought herself a SLEW of new stamps:

i also don't use a lot of green in my cards (except as an accent colour). this card ALSO fits the challenge at Stamp Something, which was to use black and white and one other colour. done!

before i worked on the pooch card, i threw this one together as i'd received some lovely orange chipboard alphas in the mail and this piece of scrap PP was just itching to be used up. another Ketto sent to me by the awesome Miss Kristy - i haven't used any of my own though! :) i just wanted to use some FLOWERS, and that was the challenge over HERE at Cafe Mojo.

and a close-up of the chipboard - i threw on a smidgen of gold Glimmer Mist and a light layer of yellow pearl acrylic paint and the little flowers accented them quite nicely. :)

feedback is most welcome!

ANNNND, stay tuned, for while i may be new here, i shall be hosting some blog candy soon!

i found this cute site last night while i should have been shutting down and going to bed, but couldn't resist their sketch. the blog's called Polka Doodles, and some of the crafty gals on there have some AMAZING ideas! here's their sketch:

and here's my take on it:

little bit of close-up detail on the schmexy legs:

i knew i was hanging onto those legs for SOMETHING! :) and i have others, too, and the wheels are turnin'...

it's monday, folks. lots of Mojo going on over here!

the Sunday Sketch & Stamp challenge for this week was this yummy sketch:

and i, um, took a slightly early lunch. here's my card (and OOOHHH, how i love my CTMH Flower Girls stamps!):

and i can't wait to sink my teeth into more of the awesome challenges out there for this week! i hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

the weekend is over. *sniff, sob*

it came and went so quickly, i've barely had time to catch my breath.

here's what i did this weekend (and i'll post a proper update tomorrow if i have time)

here's the sketch:

here's my card:

i'm excited, because tomorrow means another new sketch from Mojo Monday, whose blog i simply love. the sketches are fun. i'll keep visiting, and you should, too!

i also did a tag card:

for Cute Card Thursday, challenge #65. their cards ARE cute, and i like the ideas.

drop by Miss Jessica's blog for a sweet little nibble of candy! and wish her luck with her forthcoming wedding! :)

i made another, just for the heck of it, but i'll post that in the morning. have a good night, dolls! xo

CPS yummy sketchy goodness

i've been busy tonight! the son had a friend sleeping over and they were up late watching movies, so i thought i'd take advantage of the fact that there was NOISE in the house at an ungodly hour, and of course, i got my craft on!

the CPS card sketch this week was this one:

here's the card i made (with yet another Ketto image sent to me by Miss Kristy:

it's hard to see that the larger blue square is a smoky metallic blue paper, and the "adore" embellie is steel. i'm still learning about my camera, so without proper lighting in here, i leave it all up to Mr. Automatic.

it's raining, AGAIN. seems like that's all we've been getting in south jersey lately, and it's done a number on my poor noggin. if only it would let up just enough for me to properly CLEAR my head for a day or two, the ache would pass. but no such luck. at any rate, it's definitely bed time! good night! :)

ATC for Tilda and Friends Challenge

i never saw the point in making ATCs, and quite frankly, when i do make them, they just sit around... i have yet to find brilliant uses for them (i have ideas, but they just never come to fruition). at any rate, i LOVE making them!

so when i came across the Tilda and Friends ATC Challenges blog, i simply HAD to jump on the bandwagon! this week's challenge is for a Father's Day ATC, and it was specified that it had to be CUTE! so cute was what i aimed for... here's my ATC:

i suppose my dad can be pretty handy sometimes... :) i hate that i can't wish him a happy father's day in person, but i hope he'll appreciate the mail and a phone call just the same. :)

a personal, more CHALLENGING challenge!

i'm playing along with Kristy for a VERY difficult challenge! see the little worm on my sidebar? that's the ticker to tell me when i'm allowed to purchase craft supplies again! i am a TOTAL spendaholic, and i am in the habit of making several substantial purchases per WEEK, based on whatever sales show up in my inbox. i buy stuff i don't need, but i buy it simply because it's ON SALE. that's a bad sign, right? and the hubbin actually mentioned, for the very first time yesterday, that my stuff keeps accumulating and i really DON'T need any more paper... since he's caught on, i have to try to get a handle on this.

wanna play along with us? Kristy and i are doing this for two months, to end our fast on August 20th. can you handle that? do you have what it takes? click my ticker and post a link to your blog in my comments and we can all suffer together! :)

may the force be with us all.... ;)

Tara's candy!

stumbled across Tara's blog this morning whilst checking in to see what challenges i might play with today. she has some great candy up for grabs! (CANDY NOW CLOSED!) Tara's a fellow canuck and enjoys the Tim Hortons goodness as much as i do! sadly, the closest Timmy's is, oh, some 6 hours away. although last night i learned that Wegmans (which opened about 45 minutes away from my house a couple of years ago) is selling their coffee in cans, so i may have to make a special trip! i wonder if they also ship the fruit explosion muffins over to Weggies...

got a Bella challenge and some work to do for The Shoe, so am off to first watch a movie and then get craftin'! drop by If The Shoe Fits... Scrap It! for some great weekly challenges and a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to our fab sponsor, Scrap-a-Doodle-Doo!

tomorrow's monday, savour what's left of the weekend! :)

creative but late?

ugh! i think i'm late for this, but thought i'd share anyway.
here's the sketch:

and here's my card:

Our Creative Corner has some great weekly sketches, but i guess i failed to realize that they post on SATURDAYS! so i guess i'll just have to get started on today's challenge! :D

Stamp something, or something.

i came, i stamped, i conquered!
over here is another challenge site i stumbled across, and simply had to play with this sketch:

and i did this, between calls and quotes today:

had to fuss with the charm and how to attach the darned thing... still not totally sure i'm happy with that part of it, but i like the rest. (how many more posts will i make today?)

here's m'hair!

i can't seem to get a better shot of it by myself, so here's what it looks like up close. the lighting is kind of rotten today, but you can see the silvery platinum with the purple! i will post more when i can get me the silver shampoo and wash this itchy head! :)

happy birthday to meeeeeeee!

oh, i should be working?

for the Friday Sketchers challenge, they're on sketch #56, and here's the sketch:

and here's my take on it:

i was quite pleased with the way it came out, but the vellum Glue Dots? yeah, they don't work. anyone have another suggestion for a really GOOD vellum adhesive?

***Candy closed!***
Sarah has some AMAZING blog candy up for grabs, folks! drop by and drool along with me! (closes 6/14)

:) have a great weekend!

hi gang, and YAY, we made it to friday! i'll start by saying that last night was WONDERFUL, as i had a hair appointment and my hubbin treated me to whatever i wanted as a birthday gift. there shall be photos, oh yes, but let's just say that it's BOLD! i can't remember the last time i truly LOVED my hair, but i certainly do now!

second, it's friday, and that means it's colour challenge day at If The Shoe Fits... Scrap It! today's colours are blue, green and yellow. here's the card i made for it:

wanna play with the girls at The Shoe? Join us here!

have a great weekend, everyone! :) and if you're up for some particularly tasty blog candy, visit Michelle for some WONDERFUL Pink Cat Studios stamps, Smooch, and more! (will be drawn 6/24)

trying this again.

WEIRD. for some reason, it worked this time.

Whimsy sketch challenge

over at the Whimsy Stamps Challenges blog, they have cute sketches every monday. here's this week's sketch:

and since the prize this week includes some buttons and brads from Basic Grey's Marrakech line, i pulled out my Marrakech 6x6 pad and paired it up with some Basic Grey stamps from the Bitsy Lotus set, and made this card:

(although i have no idea why it's loading sideways. getting annoyed as i keep trying... if anyone can shed some light, i'd be grateful!)

participating in this week's Whimsy sketch challenge, i also get entered again for Erin's blog candy (see previous post!), so i couldn't pass it up!
